Mae Dean Block nee Johnson. Born January 29, 1929, passed away peacefully Wednesday July 25, 2018 when her fragile heart failed. Beloved wife of the late Norbert Block; loving mother of Barbara Jo Scott, Cindy (Paul) Giambarberee and Diana Schauf; cherished grandmother of Jennifer (Tom) Riley, Courtney (Kevin) Pigford, Jason (Carrie) Giambarberee, Jessica Giambarberee and the late Leah Schauf; great grandmother of Alyce, Theresa, Arya, Madelyn, Emma and Ellie; dear friend and companion of the late Duane Caldwell.
Mae was born in St. Charles, MO and grew up in Owensville, MO. She maintained her strong ties to her family and friends in Missouri after moving to Chicago and raising her own family. Mom loved to travel, read and listen to music. Her faith was strong and she was an active member of each UCC congregation she belonged to. It was her strong faith that guided her through these last few months.
Mae lived a full and blessed life. She was proud of all her accomplishments, but most of all her family. She will be remembered as a loving, spirited and compassionate mother, grandmother,”Gg-ma” and friend.
Memorial Service Saturday July 28, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Park Ridge Community Church, 100 Courtland Ave., Park Ridge, IL 60068.
